A true shingle style house should open up to the landscape in almost all directions. Unfortunately most every stock floorplan has a standard front yard/backyard plan with closed off side walls. Maidstone Lane is the perfect plan for a property where the best light/views are towards a side lot line rather than towards the rear of the property.
Upon approaching Maidstone Lane, one is embraced by a welcoming front courtyard space formed by the projecting living room wing.
In a surprising twist, one discovers that the front door is actually off to the left side of the front porch. Directly beyond the front door, large french doors lead out to a terrace overlooking the primary view. The living room and dining room form an enfilade of formal rooms which share this large terrace.
The kitchen occupies the center of the house and leads to a family room and covered porch which command both direct access to the rear of the property (this plan shown with swimming pool) and also an expansive view back towards the main lawn.
Maidstone Lane is a unique take on the center hall colonial plan. It’s full of twists and turns that will take full advantage of your building site and give your home a true one-of-a-kind feel .

1st Floor Plan
Like an authentic shingle style house, Maidstone Lane has a layout which is both modern in its open flow and traditional in its strongly defined rooms. The primary rooms have french doors with transoms and huge 7′-6″ tall windows that fill the spaces with natural light and encourage easy flow to outdoor rooms. First floor ceilings are an airy 10′-3″ high which, along with the oversized windows, will give your new home a truly stately feel.
Maidstone Lane is only one room deep throughout, meaning that the living room, dining room, kitchen, and family room all have windows on two, or even three, sides for great ventilation and views of your property.
The covered porch, with outdoor fireplace can be outfitted with removable glass or screen panels or with motorized screens.

Note: In some localities, full basements are standard while in others, crawl spaces, or slabs on grade prevail. Drawings sets are available with any of these three options. Full basements can be left unfinished or can be fully finished. The layout at right is just one possible basement layout. There are many other possibilities which can typically be worked out with your contractor during construction.
Maidstone Lane is shown here with 900 square feet of finished space including a large playroom, a bar, an exercise room, a bathroom, and an optional fireplace.
All full basements are outfitted with numerous full height windows, filling the space with natural light and making it feel anything but underground.
Maidstone Lane is shown with seven large basement windows and additional windows are possible if more finished space is desired. A walk-out basement with french doors is also possible for sloping sites.
Note: Southampton Series homes have the potential for finished space on the third level. Check local building codes for restrictions on habitable third floors. Roof pitch can be lowered to meet local height restrictions.
Maidstone Lane has a 42 foot long sun-filled third floor space that could be converted into a studio/office, a playroom, or any number of other possibilities.
As an option, more dormer windows could be added to a large bonus and storage rooms to create more finished space, including bedroom suites.
